Circus 1903- Ordway- June 28-30th
I saw this last night and it is pretty awesome. Only here for a couple of days, this show is filled with turn of the century acrobatics and circus acts including two amazing puppet elephants that are incredibly lifelike. Great for families and adults. Cost: $19 special

Family Friendly Caboose Ride- Minnesota Transportation Museum- Every Saturday, 10:30- 3:30
Got a little one obsessed with trains? Here is a perfect thing to do. The Minnesota Transportation Museum has rides going all day on Saturdays- each one takes about 20 minutes on a real life 100 year old caboose. Cost: $5-$ 12

Rhino – Vanellie’s on the Lake (Forrest Lake) – June 30, 8pm-12
If you haven’t seen Rhino perform, then you are missing out. They are a fun, energy- filled rock group that will keep you dancing and jamming all night long while they play all of your favorite covers with their own Rhino-esque takes on the classic, 80’s, top 40 and more. It is worth checking out for the drums alone. Cost: Nothing listed

Shrek- The Musical- Stages Theater- June 23- July 30
This silly and sweet fairy-tale bending story will be playing at Stages Community Theater for a month. Shows run about 80 minutes and will be sure to make you laugh as the surly ogre finds love. Frugal Tip: Check out their Pay What You Can Performances. Cost: $12-$21

“Commando” 35mm Screening -Parkway Theater- June 28, 8pm
This 80’s favorite film starring Arnold Schwartzenager will be showing at the Parkway for one night only. There is lots of action in this movie about a retired special forces op thrown into a situation where he has to rescue his daughter and take out the bad guys. Cost: $10

Blood Drive- Sociable Cider Werks- June 28, 4-7:30
I love it when a brewery and a blood drive team up. Wednesday, Memorial Blood Centers and Sociable Cider are doing just that. There will be give-aways, pints for later tokens for those donating, chance for Twins tickets and more. Make sure you refrain from drinking and eat smartly before you donate. Cost: FREE

Journey- Treasure Island- July 1, 8pm
Love Journey? Come see them outside at Treasure Island. Opening for them will be Original Asia so this will be a fun 70’s riffic double feature. This is a 16+ event. All the details about it can be found here. Cost: $35

Shakespeare in the Park “Comedy of Errors” -Centennial Lakes Amphitheater- July 2, 7-9pm
Shakespeare in the park is a wonderful way to celebrate summer. Theater companies all across the world do outdoor renditions in parks and it makes for a fun way to picnic and enjoy the Bard’s work. This comedy features a lot of slapstick/ physical comedy and entertaining and family friendly. Cost: FREE

A fantastic and creepy movie staring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins in this FBI agent vs serial killer in psychological warfare gave us so many wonderful moments and quotable lines. Here is your chance to see it on the big screen for two nights playing at midnight. Cost: $9
